The Toll Highway Bureau provides legal services to The Illinois State Toll Highway Authority, a 1400-employee, public agency with over $1 billion in annual revenue and currently engaged in a $12 billion capital program. The Bureau is seeking candidates for the position of Deputy General Counsel to work with and assist the General Counsel in providing mentorship, supervision, guidance and direction to the Bureauís staff of Assistant Attorneys General. Applicants should have experience in a wide-range of practice areas such as: Federal, State, and administrative litigation, finance, insurance, public employment and, construction. Experience with diversity issues, government contracting and procurement and/or collective bargaining would be beneficial.

Candidates should have backgrounds and knowledge sufficient to assume supervisory and/or primary responsibility for legal matters involving the Toll Highway Authority. The position, which reports to the Authorityís General Counsel, requires a well-organized and self-directed attorney. A candidate should be prepared to demonstrate strong legal writing and researching capabilities, as well as outstanding oral communication skills.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience. Candidates must be licensed in Illinois at the time of application. A minimum of 15 years post-graduate legal experience is required.
