SALARY: Commensurate with experience

The primary responsibility of the Outreach Specialist/Victim Services is to coordinate, develop and provide training and education on the services and resources provided by the Crime Victim Services Division in order to raise awareness and increase program participation. The audience/stakeholders include, but are not limited to, law enforcement, medical personnel, victim service agencies, hospitals, and professional and community organizations.

A minimum of 60% of time is spent working with the aforementioned entities in addition to participating in resource fairs, health fairs, local conferences and summits where organizations providing services for crime victims may convene. The Outreach Specialist/Victim Services will also support coordinating public information events with stakeholders, collaborating with AG office liaisons, distributing, replenishing, and monitoring statewide materials relative to the Crime Victims Compensation Statute, and other duties as assigned.

In addition to the outreach job duties, the Outreach Specialist/Victim Services will dedicate approximately 40% of their time providing case management services in coordination with the Crime Victim Services Division. They are responsible for maintaining an up-to-date referral list for essential services relevant to crime victims and to facilitate effective referrals. Case management responsibilities include, but are not limited to; providing referrals, conducting basic needs assessments, crisis intervention, and coordination of care.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires a bachelor's degree in criminal justice, social work, psychology, communications, public relations, or a related field. Preferred candidate will possess demonstrated public speaking experience, the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, and superior verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational abilities and a collaborative work ethic are essential. Attendance and the ability to maintain satisfactory working relationships with other employees and the general public are essential functions of this position. A valid Illinois driver's license is required. This position requires regular statewide travel. Bilingual (Spanish) is preferred.

HOURS OF WORK: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Monday - Friday)
